Kenpachi asked Orihime to heal him after finally defeating Nnoitra. But even before Orihime d him, the Espada Stark arriveed and carried her away to a tower where Sōsuke Aizen greeted her. Aizen told her that he, Gin Ichimaru, and Kaname Tōsen are preparing to destroy Karakura Town. Aizen ordered Tōsen to contact all of the Soul Reaper captains, Ichigo, and his friends with kidō, and revealed that he brought Orihime to Hueco Mundo to lure and trap them. While travelling through a garganta portal to Karakura Town, however, Aizen was confronted by Commander-General Shigekuni Yamamoto-Genryūsai, the leader of the Gotei 13, with five other captains. Aizen summoned the Espada Stark, Barragan, and Halibel and ordered Espada Ulquiorra Cifer to protect Las Noches. Ichigo sensed the threat to Orihime and flied off to save her.

While the Sealing Team prepares to start sealing the Three-Tails, Sai took Yuukimaru to a safe place but he was also attacked by Kabuto’s men. Kabuto then prepares his plans while Lee, Tenten and Kiba were also attached. Safe, they headed back to report the incidence to Kakashi’s team when they found Sai unconscious with the help of Akamaru. Rinji’s team prepares to attack the sealing team but they were stopped by Kakashi, Yamato and Shino. In the fire prison created by Yamamoto, Gin noticed that Kira was angry. Tosen asked him whether he felt bad about abandoning Kira. Gin replied that he wasn’t but was glad that Kira was doing well. In his fight, Kira managed to draw blood against his opponent, Avirama Redder, who proceeded to release his zanpakuto, Aguila. Meanwhile, Yumichika and his opponent, Charlotte Cuulhorne, the strange feminine arrancar, continued their fight, which appeared at first to be more of a “beauty contest” than an actual fight, because the two spar while declaring the other to be ugly; however, both decide that the victor shall be the most beautiful. Charlotte used several attacks, each given a ridiculously long name, which were able to injure Yumichika. When Yumichika managed to cut off some of Charlotte’s hair, the Arrancar was enraged and released his sword, Reina de Rosas which means “Queen of the Roses”. Now stronger than Yumichika, the fight escalated until Charlotte trapped Yumichika in a prison of black thorns, which completely encased the combatants and their reiatsu, hiding Yumichika’s death from everyone. Upon hearing that his reiatsu was hidden, Yumichika revealed the true form of his zanpakuto, Ruriiro Kujaku, a kido-type sword. With its power, he drained Charlotte’s reiatsu and claimed victory.

Urahara took Hiyori to the Maggots Nest, explaining on the way that its purpose was to hold people deemed potentially dangerous by the Soul Society. Because it was underground and heavily guarded, the prisoners were free to walk around, doing as they please. While they were walking through the penitentiary, a large prisoner attacked Hiyori who accidentally left her zanpakuto back at their division headquarters. Urahara easily subdued the man with his bare hand, stating that using one’s hands is the only way to thwart an attack in the prison. Deep inside, a younger Mayuri Kurotsuchi; confined to his own cell, was approached by Kisuke in regards to being his second in command in a new division of their own making, the Technological Research Bureau. Mayuri was reluctant but eventually agreed. Elsewhere, a young Byakuya Kuchiki was shown to have been easily irritated at that age, proven when Yoruichi demonstrates her flash step technique, stealing his hairpiece before escaping, taunting him in the process. Kaien Shiba was also offered the position of lieutenant under Jushirou Ukitake, but he stubbornly refused. Ukitake tells Kaien of a boy who was even younger than Byakuya, who was to be promoted to a seat position in his squad. The boy, who easily slayed the 3rd seat of the fifth division, was revealed to be a young Gin Ichimaru, under the watchful and impressed eye of Aizen. The pendulum swang forward 9 years, revealing a glimpse of horrible events yet to come.

When all of Ichigo’s team were almost completely defeated, four captains from the 13 Protection Swuads arrived to aide them. Kenpachi Zaraki defeated Tesla easily and told Ichigo to back off for it is him who will fight Nnoitra. Captain Retsu Unohana arrived with her lieutenant and stopped the Exequias from killing Gantebainme Mosqueda and Chad. Captain Mayuri Kurotsuchi and his lietenant arrived and Mayuri is confident that he could win against Szayel Appolo who created a voodoo doll for him. Captain Byakuya Kuchiki arrived to save Rukia from Espada Zommari Leroux, and manages to overcome Zommari’s enhanced speed with the techniques Yoruichi Shihōin taught him.

The team that was assembled in the previous episode are going to infiltrate the gate that the Arrancars use to travel between Hueco Mundo and the real world. The “Hollow Fortress” was filled with Hollows which attached the team. Don Kanonji and Ururu stayed behind to face the hollows while the other continued to go inside the fortress. Inside the fortress, they met one of the Arrancars from from Hueco Mundo. Chuzuru used her Hyper Erotic Powers to distract the arrancar while Tatsuki, Keigo and Kurumatani took charge in defeating the hollows inside. Kon travelled to the fortress’ center where he met a hollow which he killed with his Riser Beam. The fortress exploded from the center and Urahara erected a barrier around Kurakura town.
